Meditation

Productivity requires focus, attention and concentration. If you think you are not focused, I suggest you start meditating everyday for 10 - 15 minutes, make it a habit and it will help you build your focus.

Plan Wisely

The number of tasks you plan to accomplish in the day should be a number that you believe that you have the ability to complete. If you can only complete 15 tasks, it would be a bad idea to put 30 on the list.

The Work Environment

When you sit down to work, the environment setup is very important. Sit somewhere you are comfortable, sit somewhere away from distractions and noise, this will help you focus. Only keep the material you require for your work and not other things. Keeping your phone on do not disturb would be a good idea.

Listening to music while working is also a good idea, Lofi music is something you should listen to while working.

Breaks

Taking breaks is very important, the pomodoro method is a very system. The Pomodoro system is basically working for 20 - 25 minutes and then taking a 5 minute break and a 15 minute break after finishing the task you were working on. During this break, try to avoid scrolling through social media and replying to messages as while you are doing that, you might lose track of time or procrastinate, instead do some sitting exercises or just relax. You can check messages and social media in the 15 minute break you take after finishing the task.

Enjoy Your Work

Productivity is not about grinding to get the maximum done, enjoy the journey and the process, the rest will take care of itself. If you are doing something that you do not like, set a reward that you will be giving yourself after the task has been completed.

You should do things that you enjoy but life doesn't always give you tasks that you will be enjoying so you have to find a way to make them fun. I often see that when people don’t get motivated to do things even after having a reward waiting for them when the task is over, they often over glorify the task as they think it might get them interested but it doesn’t. Just accept that the task is boring and that is why you want to get it over with. And if the task is pretty mundane and doesn’t require your full attention, for example organizing your books, you can do something while you are doing that task like listening to audiobooks or music.

Deadlines

Sometimes it is hard to decide which task to start with because sometimes all the tasks that are on the list are very enjoyable and fun to do, in those cases the best thing you can do is sort the tasks by their deadline, do the tasks that are due soon first and then the tasks that are due later. This way you enjoy your work while not missing a single deadline.

Health

Health plays an important role in productivity. Having good mental and physical health is a must. Regular exercise is very important and should be a part of your routine. Eating healthy food and meditating is also very important.

So to wrap everything up, to be more productive you need to be disciplined and follow the rules that you set for yourself, these rules cannot be unrealistic, you should know your capacity and set the goals accordingly. Motivation is also important because when you are not motivated, you can very easily get distracted. But the most important thing is to enjoy the journey and process and learn as much as we can from it.
